JYSK’s aim is to integrate environmental sustainability into all relevant areas of our business. On this page, you can learn more about some of our many initiatives within environmental sustainability.
Fighting climate change
JYSK has ambitious plans to cut the greenhouse gas emitted from powering and heating all of our stores, distribution centres and offices in half by 2030.
We are working hard to make our facilities more efficient, to transition to renewable electricity, and to phase out fossil fuels. We also engage our supply chain and transportation partners, with the goal of being carbon neutral throughout everything we do by 2050.
Responsible raw materials
We envision a future where all products are made from renewable or recycled materials that are produced responsibly. We make commitments specific to each material source:
• Forests:
JYSK will exclusively source wood and paper from certified responsible sources.
• Cotton and other agricultural resources:
JYSK will source all cotton from responsible sources and will seek to use leading certifications and best practices on other renewable materials.
• Recycled materials:
JYSK will work to maximise the use of recycled materials in products, without compromising on quality or
1. More sustainable wood
By the end of 2024, all JYSK products and packaging made from wood, cardboard and paper will be FSC®-certified (FSC® N001715). Look for FSC-labelled products when you shop at JYSK.
FSC is short for Forest Stewardship Council®, an international non-profit organisation and labelling system for wood and paper, which originate from sustainable forestry or other responsible sources.
Back in 2006, JYSK was one of the first members when FSC established its branch in Denmark.
2. More sustainable cotton
By the end of 2024, JYSK is committed to sourcing 100% more sustainable cotton for all textile products.
This includes Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), recycled cotton and organic cotton certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
3. More recycled materials
JYSK is continuously working to increase the use of recycled materials in our products, without compromising on quality or safety.
This also means that we are working to ensure that the design of our products makes them easier to disassemble in order to recycle the materials.
